Overview:

David is probably best known for his role in M*A*S*H as the pompous Charles Emerson Winchester III but his career has stretched across decades and he has been involved in many other top film and television projects such as The Dead Zone and several of Woody Allen's Films. In addition to this he is a regular voice actor for Disney and has provided voices for popular films such as Beauty and The Beast and Lilo and Stitch. Theatre:

David moved to San Francisco in 1962 and performed at the California Shakespeare Festival (playing King Lear, Polonius, Jacques, and Aguecheek); the San Franciso Actors Workshop; and The Committee Revue and Theatre.
In 1970 he went to Juilliard on a Scholarship, and in 1972 joined The City Center Acting Company in New York. While with them he played:

Peachum in The Beggars Opera
The Duke in Measure for Measure
In 1974 he appeared in Ulysses in Nighttown at New York’s Winter Garden Theatre, playing Buck Mulligan, 2nd Watch, Dr Mulligan and Bishop of Erin.
He then starred as Feldman in The Magic Show musical on Broadway
In Summer 1981, he played the title role in King Lear at the San Diego National Shakespeare Festival.
In 2000, he starred as Dr Brock in the musical Tenderloin on Broadway.
In 2005 he played General Henry Waverly in Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Pentages Theatre, Los Angeles.
In 2005 he played Lloyd in The Melting Pot Theatre Company's Benefit reading of 'All About Eve'.
In 2005 he starred in a one night only benefit performance of Larry Gelbart's play 'Floodgate'.
